Listed below is the timetable and procedure for the forthcoming election for National Chair and two National Executive Committee members following the Assistant General Secretary appointment.

The Prison Service Pay Review Body has confirmed it has submitted its 2025 report on Public Sector Prisons in  England and Wales to the Government. We now await the date for publication from Government.

The past few months have been trying times for POA members in every workplace. Within our prisons we are witnessing ever increasing levels of violence, with the ferocity of assaults on staff reaching levels we have never witnessed before.

Mark Fairhurst Chair of the Prison Officers Association said: "The Justice System lurches from crisis to crisis. The prison estate cannot cope with the existing prison population and now the Government has announced they can cope with unpredicted rises in the prison population without explaining where all the additional staff will come from..."

Representing over 30,000 Prison, Correctional and Secure Psychiatric Workers, the POA is the largest UK Union in this sector, able to trace its roots back more than 100 years.
