The POA since March 2020 have worked collaboratively with HMPPS and other employers to find solutions in keeping prisoners and staff safe during the pandemic.

The Deputy General Secretary has been contacted today by Cabinet Office who have asked for numbers of members who are currently going through Ill Health Retirement who were in Classic and Premium, but are being retired under Alpha.

We are now able to confirm the extent of lockdown restrictions that will come into effect from today in Prisons in England. We have included Public Health England Advice for clarity.

The restrictions announced by the Prime Minister on 31st October 2020, which affect England come into force on Thursday 5th November 2020.

As you are aware, POA Circular 144/2020 was promulgated on 19th October 2020.

This is the response of the POA to the consultation paper published by HM Treasury on 17 July on the changes required to public service pensions as a result of the McCloud and Sargeant cases.
