As a consequence of Section 46 of the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 coming into force, there have been significant changes to the law as it relates to the possession of offensive weapons. 

The National Executive Committee have now had time to examine and fully understand what is contained within the PSPRB report on the remit group that the POA represent.

Thompsons Solicitors has today written to the business secretary, Kwasi Kwarteng, on behalf of 12 major trade unions coordinated by the TUC, to challenge new regulations permitting the use of agency workers during industrial action. 

Please find attached press release. As you will see the POA are legally challenging the introduction of legislation in relation to using agency workers to try and break legitimate strikes.

It is with great sadness we report to the membership the death of our good friend and Honorary Life Member John Shannon, who sadly passed away on Saturday 23rd July 2022.

In October 2021 HMPPS commenced a Pilot in 7 Establishments for a new First Aid Policy.
