CIRC 80: COVID-19 AND GROUP LIFE COVER FOR POA MEMBERS IN ENGLAND, WALES AND NORTHERN IRELAND

The POA have for many years offered members valuable Life insurance cover. This has paid out several millions of pounds over the years to the families of members who have sadly prematurely lost their lives.

In these uncertain times we want to make sure that all members are aware of this valuable benefit and to give everyone the opportunity to invite any members not currently participating in the scheme to join.

The POA have negotiated the following special terms for members wishing to join the scheme now:-

1. 6 months free cover for new members.
Any member of POA who has recently joined the Prison Service, Private Sector or Secure Psychiatric workplaces can be covered by the scheme, without evidence of health or COVID 19 questions. They will pay nothing for their first six months of cover, provided they apply for cover within three months of joining their workplace.

2. Existing members of the POA (aged under 65) may join the scheme, without evidence of health or COVID 19 questions, subject to confirmation that they are actively in work, in their normal occupation and number of contracted hours, have not been medically advised against working and have not been absent from work due to ill health or injury in the 8 weeks preceding the application. (NB no free cover for existing members)

 

 

 


Premiums are collected by direct debit and are £16.25 per month. The scheme provides the following benefits:-

  • Member - cover for Death from any cause up to £59,000
  • Option to split Member cover with Partner Spouse (£47,000/£12,000)
  • Members children – Death benefit £6,000 per child
  • Cover to age 70
  • No Medical Required
  • Worldwide cover - 24 hours a day - 365 days a year
