SCOTLAND: RE: CAPABILITY APPLICATIONS & OUTCOMES

Given recent events surrounding member applications and outcomes through the capability process we are looking to compile a data collection of information that allows us to keep track of how cases are being managed and adjudicated on through the SPS process.

We are aware that as branch officials some of you will be involved in assisting with these cases, or at least have access to information as to their outcomes.

Can we ask that you provide us with key pieces of info that will be helpful to us in monitoring the case management of these applications, at all times mindful of the GDPR regulations about the storage and sharing of information.

The information that we would look to have provided where possible is:

Establishment

Age

Length of service

Grounds for capability application (ie physical impairment, stress, mental health injury etc)

Full-time or partially retired at time of application

Operational or non- operational

GIC recommendation to support or not- if not, reasons given for non support

SPS award given as a %

Was outcome appealed?  If so, what was the outcome?

Please do not provide us with names or anything you think clearly identifies the individual in the gathering of this information if you do not have their permission to share with us.

Can you please have a look back over the last 6 months for those of you able to do so, and provide that information to john.devine@poauk.org.uk  or mark.meikle@poauk.org.uk and continue to copy them in to current and future cases as they arise.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide in gathering this data.

Regards

On behalf of the Scottish National Committee
