We will hold our Annual Conference to deal wholly with Scottish issues from the 28th of October to the 29th of October 2026, with the training day being held on Friday, 30th October 2026. The conference will take place at the Peebles Hydro hotel, Peebles, and further details will be circulated to branches when arrangements have been finalised.
In the meantime, branches are requested to submit proposals from Monday, 6th July 2026 for inclusion on the agenda and they should be under one of the following headings: -
The Standing Orders Committee have determined that proposed motions must reach the Prison Officers Association (Scotland) Headquarters no later than 12 noon on Friday 1st August 2025, following which the Standing Orders Committee will consider those motions submitted.
Branches are advised to send proposed motions by recorded or registered post, or email, and must be received at POA (Scotland) Headquarters before noon on the 31st July 2026.
It is incumbent on all branches that proposals must be submitted on the enclosed form, signed by the Branch Secretary/Chair to the effect that they were adopted at a properly convened Branch meeting, together with the date of that meeting and the numbers in attendance.
The Standing Orders Committee has asked me to reiterate the fact that they are seeking proposals which would be relevant for the Scottish Committee (SNC) to deal with in Scotland, and to remind branches that they will be called upon to submit motions for inclusion in the National Conference Agenda in May of each year. At that time, they may submit motions under such headings as Rules and Constitution and Matters Affecting the Association, which have not been included for submission under this Agenda.
Yours sincerely
PHIL FAIRLIE
